APM’s Aide Chisale Remanded to Chichiri Prison

Former President Peter Mutharika’s security aide Norman Chisale has been remanded to Chichiri Prison for 7 more days.
Chisale was re-arrested on Friday for assault charges after being granted bail on fraud and money laundering charges.
Chisale was taken into custody for attempting murder charges.
This morning, the court has ordered the Director of Public Prosecutions to commit Chisale to the High Court, failing which the magistrate’s court will review his remand.
Chief Resident Magistrate Simeon Mdeza presided over the case.
Meanwhile, Chisale’s lawyer, Chancy Gondwe, has indicated that he will apply to the High Court to have his client released on bail because it remains his constitutional right.
