Pogba tests positive for coronavirus

Manchester United   midfielder Paul Pogba has been left out of the   France   squad after testing positive for coronavirus, Didier Deschamps has confirmed. The 27-year-old had been named in the world champions' squad for upcoming fixtures against   Croatia   and   Sweden   but has now been forced out of consideration for selection. Pogba has been replaced in Deschamps' squad by   Rennes   midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, while international team mate Tanguy Ndombele of   Tottenham   Hotspur also misses out after testing positive for Covid-19.  

Master KG on toes as Jerusalema video hits 100m views on YouTube

Master KG, the South African musician and producer of hit song Jerusalema, reached another milestone on Wednesday when the song reached 100 million views on YouTube. Jerusalema has been a major hit across the world and spawned a dance challenge that went viral on social media. The song was posted on YouTube in December 2019. It had reached 50 million views by last month. The musician has thanked his fans for their support. He is quoted by South African website SowetanLive as saying: “This is just amazing… It’s also humbling to see the speed at which it travels. “When we reached 50 million views last month nobody would have predicted that in four weeks it would have doubled. This is testament that when Jesus says yes, nobody can say no. This has gone beyond us and it’s marvellous to watch.”  

Namadingo Meets Blantyre City Council CEO

A renowned Blantyre musician Patience Namadingo has today met the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Blantyre City Council (BCC) Alfred Chanza for the first time. The meeting of the duo comes after Namadingo had earlier complained of the poor service he had received from BCC when he requested for a venue to host fundraising for fellow musician William Kachigamba who is in need of money for his cancer treatment in Zambia. On Tuesday, Namadingo posed as a statue at Ginnery Corner collecting funds from well-wishers to carter for Kachigamba’s medical bills but the event started a little late due to hiccups he faced from the BCC. Writing on his Facebook page, Namadingo said the Chanza apologized for the delay he encountered on his planned event by his office and promised to work things out on how the council can handle best information received as he (Chanza) has learnt a lot from the incident. “We talked of how we can work together in the city of Blantyre on other projects. DPP emergency meeting in Mangochi set to start at 2

All is set for an emergency an emergency meeting convened by former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). The meeting follows divisions within the DPP as some top officials want Mutharika replaced through an early convention. According to source, some top officials have started arriving at Mutharika’s retirement home in Mangochi. Notable people that have arrived so far include Jappie Mhango, Goodall Gondwe, Ralph Jooma, Chimwemwe Chipungu and Bright Msaka. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 2pm this afternoon.

8 people fined MK1.7 million for demolishing 19 houses over land dispute

  Nathenje Second Grade Magistrate Rose Chirwa has convicted and ordered eight people to pay over K1.7 million or in default serve two years in prison for demolishing 19 houses over land dispute. The convicts were found guilty of malicious damage on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer Joseph Kachikho said the accused, who are all related, invaded their nephews’ houses at Jefitala Village in Traditional Authority Chitekwere on August 2 this year. Kachikho said they demolished 19 houses and property worth K1.7 million.

Namadingo Meets William kachigamba

Musician Patience Namadingo met William Kachigamba, the aspiring musician who was diagnosed with cancer and needed financial assistance for treatment in Zambia. Namadingo raised over K3 million for Kachigamba’s medical expenses. Namadingo got to know of Kachigamba’s predicament through social media and decided to help. Namadingo travelled to Lilongwe where the two met for the first time. They among others, discussed how they will move forward to seek medical treatment and other logistical issues.
