Namadingo Meets William kachigamba

Musician Patience Namadingo met William Kachigamba, the aspiring musician who was diagnosed with cancer and needed financial assistance for treatment in Zambia.

Namadingo raised over K3 million for Kachigamba’s medical expenses.

Namadingo got to know of Kachigamba’s predicament through social media and decided to help.

Namadingo travelled to Lilongwe where the two met for the first time.

They among others, discussed how they will move forward to seek medical treatment and other logistical issues.

The Department of Forestry says deforestation and charcoal burning has escalated in Dzalanyama forest reserve since Malawi defence force soldiers stopped conducting patrols in the reserve. Deputy Director of Forestry Francis Chilimampunga has told Zodiak that, one effective forest patrol for a week cost K10 million for fuel, allowances and other logistical requirements . Man dies after a tree he was cutting fell on him in Nkhata Bay

  A 23-year-old man died on Wednesday after a tree he was cutting fell on him in Nkhata Bay District. Nkhata Bay Police Publicist Kondwani James has identified the victim as, Boniface Msiska. Kondwani said the incident happened on Wednesday at Siliya Village Traditional Authority Fukamapiri in the district. A sister to the victim told police that her brother and his friend were clearing a piece of land for cultivation. As the duo was cutting one of the trees, Msiska misjudged its falling direction and unfortunately the tree crashed on him. Following the impact, the victim died on the spot after all rescue efforts proved futile. Police officers from Chintheche visited the scene and took the body to Chintheche Rural Hospital for post-mortem which revealed that death was due to internal injuries. Mangochi Police embarks on awareness campaigns to reduce road accidents

  In a bid to reduce road accidents in the district, Mangochi Police Station has embarked on intensive awareness campaigns which will target all road users. The initiative rolled out on Wednesday at Namwera Trading Centre where 38 motorcyclists were engaged. Speaking during the meeting, Mangochi Police Station Traffic Officer, Rhodes Chitera urged the motorcyclists to adhere to traffic rules at all times. Chitera outlined that, almost 60% of the road accidents in the district involve the motorcyclists due to non compliance to road traffic rules. Chitera advised the motorcyclists to put on crush helmets, reflecting jackets, insure and register their motorcycles, get riding licence, avoid carrying more than one pillion passenger and follow proper riding of their motorcycles to avoid accidents.
